AUBURN – The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office reports that automated external defibrillators will be equipped in patrol vehicles.

The AEDs and training are part of a $6.4 million grant from the Leona and Harry Helmsley Charitable Trust, which says care by first responders gives patients a better chance of survival.

A sheriff’s office press release recognizes improvement in survivability when AEDs are used by law enforcement officers, who are usually the first to arrive.
