Falls City school orders new bus
District 56 buses used for 174 activities
FALLS CITY – Falls City ordered a new school bus following a transportation report Monday.
The school board approved a $96,000 purchase of a new, 53-passenger school bus from Blue Bird.
Transportation Director Tyler Bek told the board that the fleet of eight rural bus routes traveled 94,897 miles during the last school year, compared to just over 72,000 the prior year.
Bek said difference is because the 2019-20 year was cut short by the corona virus pandemic.
Over the past year, students were transported to 174 school activities, covering nearly 29,000 miles.
In other action at Monday’s board meeting, building and grounds reported on the expansion of the parking lot at the high school, as well as carpeting and painting at various schools.
The summer meal program is serving over 250 meals Monday through Friday.
The new football stadium scoreboard is scheduled to be installed by early July.
