High speed pursuit ends near Sidney

SIDNEY, IA – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports an arrest following a high-speed pursuit.

A press release says deputies attempted to stop a 2002 Buick for an equipment violation, but the vehicle accelerated to speeds of over 90 mph westbound on Highway 2.

The driver stopped the vehicle after attempting to evade spike strips at the intersection of Highway 275 and Filmore Street in Sidney.

David Overbeck, 24, of Queen City, Mo., is suspected of eluding arrest. The press release says he is a fugitive from justice out of Nebraska.
