Council considers American Rescue Plan, asphalt projects in LMI zone

NEBRASKA CITY - The Nebraska City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on June 7.
The agenda includes rezoning at 720 Second Corso, personnel manual revisions, sale of the EMS house at 1420 First Corso, 2021 asphalt overlay, public restroom vandalism and American Rescue Plan Act funds.
The city expects to receive $1.3 million in federal funds through the American Rescue Plan and will have to provide accounting and progress reports if the money is accepted.
The city council voted on March 15 to amend the purchase, rehab, resale budget to direct $320,000 to road improvements. The council will consider using funds for asphalt overlays on Third Street from Second Avenue to Central Avenue and Fourth Avenue from Sixth to Ninth streets.
An alternate project would include First Avenue from Third to Fourth streets.
