Key Democrats differ on police watchdog

As if it hasn’t been tough enough for Democrat RJ Neary to oust Republican Mayor Jean Stothert in next week’s city election, Neary has run into at least one obstacle from his own party.

Neary has spent several months pushing for an independent police watchdog.

But both incumbent Republican Mayor Jean Stothert and a key Democrat on the city council are convinced Neary has it wrong.
