Polar Plunge and cycling event planned for 2021

NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15.

The agenda includes honoring Nebraska City volunteer firefighter Thomas Schreiner and a proclamation of Gambling Awareness Month.

The Special Olympics are expected to request use of Wildwood Pond for a Polar Plunge event in April and the Radler Bike Festival is proposing a route June 5-6.

A resolution is proposed to amend the city’s redevelopment plan for a grocery store project near 11th Street and 11th Corso.

Lincoln Pepsi proposes an agreement to supply soft drinks at city’s golf course, swimming pool and softball complex.

A city council retreat and special assessment for 2020 property improvements will also be discussed.

Krystl Knabe of Arbor Day Farm is requesting police and street department assistance for an event that is expected to bring from 500 to 750 cyclists to town. Routes with loops of 20 miles, 40 miles and 60 miles per day are planned.

Police are requested for traffic control on Steinhart Park Road and South 11th Street on Sunday, June 6.
