NCTC awards business, volunteer of 2020

NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce announced awards at its 96th annual banquet on Friday that featured ‘banquet in a box’ due to the pandemic.
CHI Health St. Mary’s was named business of the year.
NCTC Tourism and Promotions Coordinator Tammy Partsch said a nomination for the hospital commended the staff and administration for its work through the pandemic.

The volunteer of the year is Patrick Wehling, due to his work with various youth-related projects. Wehling was involved in the NCHS Athletic Boosters, the Nebraska City Baseball Association, served as parks commissioner is a strong supporter of new sports complex.
The Golden Apple Award was given to First Class Flowers.
Partsch said the staff is welcoming and make suggestions to customers about where they can eat and shop.
NCTC also announced a special Partnership Award this year, highlighting the work done by the Nebraska City Public Schools, Lourdes Central Catholic and Nebraska Center during the shutdown of schools last spring.
The Otoe County Food Pantry was the organization of the year.
