NORFOLK - It certainly wasn't pretty, but Humphrey St. Francis was able to survive and earn a 41-36 victory against Lutheran High Northeast on Saturday night.

One of the biggest keys to the game was the hot start by the Flyers, who jumped out to a 16-5 lead thanks to hitting open three-pointers and hitting all six of their free-throw attempts in the quarter. The Eagles had a better offensive second quarter, but the Flyers still lead 28-12 at the half.

The Eagles were able to win the second half, outscoring the Flyers 24-13, but turnovers and the initial deficit were too much for the Eagles to overcome as the Flyers improved to 12-4 on the season. Senior Haustyn Forney lead the way with 14 points for the Flyers, while junior Cort McKeown had 10 points for the Eagles.

The Flyers have now won four of their last five games and will try and keep their momentum rolling at Central Valley on Tuesday. The Eagles fall to 10-5 with the loss, and will look to rebound at home against Riverside on Monday.
