Bassinger joins Peru State baseball

Nebraska City High School graduate had 33 strike outs his senior year

PERU -  Former Nebraska City Pioneer baseball player Garrett Bassinger has joined the Peru State baseball team for the 2020-21 season.
 
Bassinger, a sophomore at Peru State, became a member of the Bobcat team this fall. The left-handed pitcher graduated from Nebraska City High School in 2018.

The son of Chad and Jenny Bassinger is a social sciences education major and has been on the College's Dean's List twice.
 
He was a part of several successful Nebraska City American Legion teams which participated in the state tournament. For his Pioneer team, as a senior, Bassinger won two games and struck out 33.
 
Peru State is scheduled to open its varsity season on Jan. 22 with a double header against Friends in Wichita, Kan.

Its junior varsity will have its first competition on March 11 at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs.
