SYRACUSE- the Syracuse lady rockets fend off a late scare by the Elmwood-Murdock knights to remain undefeated at 6-0.
Syracuse was lead by junior Lily Vollertson with 17 points, but ultimately the start to the second half was the pivotal factor in Thursday’s game. The lady rockets started the second half on an 8-0 run and out scored the knights 14-9 in the third quarter.
Tough defense by both teams, along with full court presses gave both team offensive fits. The knights found their shot from behind the arc in the first half with four three-pointers. Leading scorer for the knights was freshman Laney Frahm with 11.

On the boys side the Syracuse rockets take flight in the fourth quarter after being tied 47-47 at home.
The Syracuse rockets found more fuel in the tank down the stretch, outscoring Elmwood-Murdock 19-6 in the fourth quarter, to win at home 66-51. Junior Cooper Carlson and senior Griffin Goering would lead scoring for the rockets with 17 apiece.
For Elmwood-Murdock the tough schedule this season puts the knights at an 0-5 record. Sophomore Reid Fletcher would lead scoring for the knights with 15.
