PLATTSMOUTH – A Cass County judge has issued an arrest warrant for a Sudan national charged with sexual assault of a minor in July of 2019.

Court records say Santino Kenyi was a camp counselor at Ashland when a girl reported the assault. Court records say DNA evidence supports the 14-year-old girl’s account of what happened.

Deputy Cass County Attorney Richard Fedde moved to revoke Kenyi’s $10,000 bond claiming that he had attempted to leave the United States.

Court records say a Homeland Security officer notified the court that Kenyi had crossed into Canada by the way of New York and had been returned to New York. Fedde says Kenyi is from Olympic City in the Republic of South Sudan.

A Nov. 9 arraignment with an Arabic interpreter had been scheduled, but was not held.
