NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City schools announced today that they plan to continue operating in orange protocols although the Southeast District Health Department has moved the COVID-19 risk dial to red.

A joint press release from Nebraska City public, Lourdes Central and NCECBVI says schools have been in contact with the health district and Dr. Dan DeFreece of CHI St. Mary’s.

Release: “We should all exercise extreme caution and take steps to stop the spread of the coronavirus. The steps and protocols that each of our community schools have in place allows each district to continue to operate in our orange protocols.”

NCECBVI will move to remote  learning until after Thanksgiving.

A press release from Lourdes says its practices allow the “remain in school plan” to continue despite the red zone.

Release: “Knowing that the days ahead will continue to be uncertain and the possibility of LCC having to move to a ‘closed campus and eLearning’ remains, LCC will continue to work with the Nebraska Department of Education, Diocese of Lincoln Education Office, Nebraska School Activities Association and Southeast District Health Department to determine the best course of action.”
