No Injuries Reported After Driver's Side Collision With Truck

Investigators say compact utility vehicle pulled into the path of an eastbound truck before sunset at 6:33 p.m.

NEBRASKA CITY - A Nebraska City man escaped injury Thursday evening after the Ford Edge he was driving was hit by a truck and semi-trailer on Highway 2 near Third Street.

An Otoe County Sheriff's Office report says 76-year-old Melvin Jeanneret made a right turn on to the highway, but crossed one lane and attempted to enter the other eastbound lane into the path of the truck.

Damage to the Edge is estimated at $10,000 while damage to the Freightliner is estimated at $3,000. The truck driver, 27-year-old Carlos Hernandez of Orlando, Fla., was not injured.
