Nebraska Congressman Endorses Slama
Fortenberry listed with endorsement for Palmtag

SCOTTSBLUFF - US Congressman Adrian Smith is the latest Republican to take a stance in the Republican-only race for Nebraska's first district seat in the state Legislature.
Congressman Smith announced his endorsement Thursday for State Sen. Julie Slama. Slama's Republican opponent Janet Palmtag is endorsed by Congressman Jeff Fortenberry.
In making his endorsement, Congressman Smith described Slama as a fearless conservative who can effectively represent families, farmers and small business owners in southeast Nebraska.
He also credited Slama for her work with the US Army Corp of Engineers toward levee repairs following the floods of 2019 and said he worked with Slama to make the levee near Peru eligible for federal repair funds.
The Smith campaign cites other endorsements for Slama including Gov. Pete Ricketts, Attorney General Doug Peterson, Speaker of the Legislature Jim Scheer, State Sen. Robert Clements and the Nebraska Republican Party.
Smith represents all Nebraska counties of the first legislative district, except a portion of Otoe County.
Slama is opposed on the Nov. 3 ballot by Republican Janet Palmtag.
The Palmtag for Nebraska website lists endorsements including Republicans former Gov. Dave Heineman and former Secretary of State John Gale.
