Highway Patrol Reports Train Fatality

ROCK PORT - The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a fatal accident involving a train in Atchison County on Saturday.

A Mack truck was hit by the train on a private levy access road five miles south of Rock Port. The crossing is regulated by a stop sign.

The driver, Troy Landess, 52, of Clarinda, Iowa, was transported to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn, where he was pronounced dead.

The BNSF train locomotive was operated by Daniel Peterson, 55,of Beatrice, who was uninjured.
