Firefighters Save Apple House At Arbor Day Farm
NEBRASKA CITY – Firefighters confronted a towering blaze Wednesday evening at Arbor Day Farm, but were able to save the Apple House Market from the burning.

Arriving firefighters used water from the pumper truck to attack the fire in the Porter's BBQ area. A fire hydrant located between the building and the entrance to the Tree Adventure entrance was hooked up to. Once that water was available, firefighters were able to knock down the flames.
Fire had consumed the Porter's BBQ area of Arbor Day Farm and had climbed the outer roof line on the main A-frame of the building complex. There is smoke damage to the Apple House Market. It does not appear the apple sorting area was impacted by fire and fire was largely contained to the northeast corner.
Fire crews were still at the scene with an investigator from the state Fire Marshal's Office at 10 p.m.
The fire was out prior to 8 p.m.
