The Falls City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The agenda includes the city budget,  Prichard Auditorium repairs and Harlan Street handicap ramps.

A public hearing is scheduled on Falls City Foods LLC’s application for community development block grant funds of $305,000. Another downtown revitalization grant of $455,000 is proposed with a $100,000 city match.

The city’s 2020-21 budget form says $712,594 in property tax will be required from a valuation of $160 million. Total bonded indebtedness is list at $17.3 million.

The city’s proposed disbursements include $1.6 million in public safety, $689,000 in culture and recreation and streets $676,000.

The city is proposing a $305,000 CDBG loan to Great West Petfood Holding doing business as Falls City Foods. The company proposes a $612,000 project to  add a freezer and refrigeration equipment at its existing facility.  The expansion is expected to create 10 full time jobs.

The city is considering appointment of Juan Ramirez and Caleb Gilkerson as new police officers.

A public hearing is scheduled on a downtown revitalization grant of $445,000 for sidewalk, curb, gutter and façade rehabilitation for a 12-block redevelopment area. Additional items include railings, planters, lighting and ADA accessibility.
