Bethel Church Organizing Derecho Relief
Nebraska church urging supplies for Iowans impacted by derecho disaster

NEBRASKA CITY - Bethel Church in Nebraska City is organizing relief for those impacted by the derecho storm that hit Iowa on Monday, Aug. 10.
Pastor Keith Valenzuela says homes, churches, schools and businesses are in ruins after winds up to 112 mph scoured the area for 40 minutes.
About 130,000 residents were left without electrical service.
Valenzuela said a trailer will be at Bethel Church weekdays through Aug. 26. Donations are being accepted from 9 a.m. to noon and 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Recommended items are:
- New blankets
- New towels
- New wash clothes
- Diapers
- New socks in bags
- New underwear in bags
- Bottled water
- New empty gas cans
- New toiletry items (toothpaste, Kleenex, TP, etc)
- Cleaning supplies
- Work gloves
- Canned and Non-perishable food items
- Trash bags
