NEBRASKA CITY - Several area schools are planning for students’ return to classrooms this week.
Students will go to class in Nebraska City on Aug. 13.
Principal Brian Hoover said the school day schedule depends on the risk color the school district is in. A yellow or orange level will result in limited transitions between classes and smaller sized groups for lunch.
In the yellow level, which was indicated Friday in a risk meter released by the Southeast District and Sarpy/Cass health, students will attend in-person class with masks when a six-foot distance can not be maintained. Random temperature checks are planned through the day at Nebraska City. All student will use hand sanitizer before entering the building.
School will also start Aug. 13 at Falls City. Face coverings are recommended in the orange level and buildings will be closed in red.
Plattsmouth Superintendent Richardson Hasty reported in July that Plattsmouth has closed its campus and off-campus activities after a strength and conditioning participant tested positive for COVID-19.
Sarpy/Cass Health Department has the district in the yellow moderate risk level. Masks must cover nose and mouth. Bandanas are not allowed in school dress code.
Remote learning is offered to students who do not attend in-person.
A Syracuse school notice says parents are responsible for daily screening of COVID-19 at home. The school plans frequent cleaning, physical distancing and classroom barriers.
