Man Charged With Racing On Highway 136

TECUMSEH – Christian Hommy Soto Morales, 30, of Pineville, N.C., is suspected of racing vehicles on Highway 136 and attempted possession of Clonazepam.

Johnson County sheriff’s deputies  were dispatched May 19 on a report of two cars racing on the highway near the Johnson County border.

A sheriff’s deputy told the court he saw cars weaving in and out of traffic and estimated speeds at 100 mph.

One of the suspected cars pulled over before the deputy caught up to it. The sheriff’s office deployed the K9 Norra and later searched the car.

Sentencing is scheduled Sept. 9.
