GAR Hall Hosts Juneteenth Activities
Lessons from Freedom Fighters discussions scheduled

NEBRASKA CITY – Mayhew Cabin is holding its Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, at the GAR Hall, 910 First Corso, in Nebraska City.
A reading of the Emancipation Proclamation is scheduled at 11 a.m., followed by a “Lessons from Freedom Fighters” discussion.
At 2 p.m., there will be a reading of excerpts from Frederick Douglass’s “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July” speech. Discussion will follow.
The event will follow social distancing guidelines.
The Mayhew Cabin in Nebraska City remains closed due to 2019 flooding.
