NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City commissioners approved use of Eighth Street for the farmers market each Thursday through Aug. 29.

Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce says the 2020 Farmers Market is a success so far this year, but it has been limited to 10 vendors in order to meet social distancing directives.

NCTC’s Pam Frana said use of 18 parking spaces on Eighth Street from Central Avenue to First Corso will allow the addition of six more vendors. The market would also use the Veterans Memorial Building parking lot from 3 to 6 p.m.

Frana: “The reason we have so many vendors this year is because a lot of people planted their gardens and a lot of the farmers markets are not open this year. Syracuse doesn’t have a farmers market and we have a guy from Bennet and they are not having any in that area. They have asked to come and join us.”

A fall market is also proposed  from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. It will be outside, but could move indoors to the Veterans Memorial Building basement.
