PAPILLION – The Sarpy/Cass Health Department reported Tuesday a third death from COVID-19.

A Sarpy County man in his 80s, who also suffered from underlying health conditions, contracted the virus through close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.

Health Director Sarah Schram extended her sympathies to the individual’s family and friends.

Schram: “This is the second COVID-19 related death in our jurisdiction within the week. It serves as a very unfortunate reminder to our community about the importance of staying at home and social distancing when leaving the home for essential activities in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.”
