PLATTSMOUTH - A $15.2 million school bond proposal by Conestoga Public Schools appears to have failed by two votes.

While vote canvassing is yet to be conducted, preliminary results released by the Cass County Election Office shows 612 votes against the bond issue and 610 in favor.

The proposal would have renovated and made additions to the elementary and high schools.

The proposed construction would accommodate 12 new classrooms at the elementary school and a new daycare wing.

The junior and senior high building would add 9,924 square feet for classrooms. The library would be renovated and existing classrooms would be reconfigured into different hubs.

A fine arts addition would total 2,298 square feet.

The front entrance would receive a makeover with security features.

An athletics wing of 27,000 square feet would include a second gym.

Dan Henry won his re-election bid to the Cass County Board with 61 percent of the vote.
