Deputies Navigate Sky And Flood Waters To Find Stolen Machinery, Burglarized Cabin
Urich, Mo., men suspected of burglary, theft
AUBURN – Two Urich, Mo. , men have been charged with theft of farm equipment and burglary of a cabin near Peru that is flanked by flood waters.
Deputies, who were searching for the missing farm equipment, used a drone to search the cabin area beyond flooded ground. They later took an airboat to the property with the land owners.
A missing agricultural sprayer owned by Wilbur Ellis was found in six-feet of water. A tractor and ATV owned by Ed Welte were on dry ground, but surrounded by flood water.
Nemaha County sheriff’s deputies used the drone to keep surveillance on the property and noticed a boat on the Missouri River coming to the location.
An arrest affidavit says deputies used the drone to order the men to come to the deputies’ position, where they were arrested.
Michael Miller, 39, and Joshua Brown, 39, are charged with March 30 offenses.
