FALLS CITY – The Falls City School Board approved graduation requirements Monday for the Class of 2020.

The new requirements recognize alternative learning environments and changes in instruction.

The new policy says the local district can award a diploma for students who have completed the state-required graduation credits, but not all the district requirements. As part of a continuity of learning plan, districts can provide additional learning opportunities that students can complete in an alternative learning environment.

The policy says diplomas can also be awarded to students who have not met the minimum state-required graduation credits but were on track to meet those requirements.

Targeted coursework and summer coursework would be required for students further behind.
