An additional case of COVID-19 related to an outbreak inside this Blair assisted living facility, where several health care workers and residents have tested positive, has now led authorities to move all residents—we’re not told how many— to other homes, temporarily shut Carter Place down and order a top to bottom disinfection.

The first two people testing positive here include a woman in her 90’s and a man in his 70’s.

We’re told the woman was self-isolating while the man is in the hospital.

Then three more cases: two women and a man all in their 80’s and all in self-isolation.

The case that kick-started the evacuation here a woman in her 90’s who is in self-isolation at her home.

According to the company that runs Carter Place, they have followed the Centers for Disease Control Corona-virus measures including a ban on all non-essential visitors, no group activities, and an emphasis on infection control procedures.

Last week the state health department said Carter Place is “aggressively responding to the situation and…investigations are underway to identify people who came into close contact to help prevent further spread.”

All identified close contacts will self-quarantine and be monitored twice a day for fevers and respiratory symptoms.
