AUBURN – The Nemaha County Board of Commissioners are implementing restricted access to the courthouse in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Board Chairman Bryan Mellage said commissioners met with Southeast District Health Department Director Grant Brueggemann Wednesday and have followed developments from the governor’s office and medical officials.

Mellage: “The Board of Commissioners is reaching out to the citizens of the county to join in, in helping us battle the coronavirus. “

The courthouse remains open at this point, but the commissioners are asking the public to only come to the courthouse when absolutely necessary.

Mellage: “We are asking that you do your business with the courthouse via, phone, mail or on-line.  Call ahead to whatever office you need to visit within the courthouse and ask if it is permissible to come to that office, and ways to do whatever task you need to do, in a way that you do not have to enter the courthouse itself.”

There is a dropbox on the northeast corner of the courthouse square that is there for people to drop off documents for the courthouse, that will be monitored daily.
