Willis Highlights Native American Artifact Show

Show scheduled March 7 at Missouri River Basin Lewis and Clark Center

NEBRASKA CITY – The Native American Artifact Show is scheduled March 7 at the MRB Lewis and Clark Center at Nebraska City.

Events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. include artifact and tool displays and children’s activities including making pottery and corn husk dolls.

Nancy Gillis presents “The Voice of Native American Women” at 1 p.m.

The presentation documents the way native American women have spoken out in political, social and spiritual settings in humor, pathos, anger and celebration.

Gillis holds a master’s degree of education in history and sociology, a bachelor of science in history and anthropology, and a bachelor’s degree in native American studies.

The former director of the John Neihardt State Historical Site is a Cherokee/Choctaw heritage who came to Nebraska in 1987 to work with the Winnebago Tribe for the Reformed Church in America.
