AUBURN – A 35-year-old Auburn woman is charged with assaulting a deputy who responded to a drunk driver and shoplifting report at Shell Speedee Mart on Jan. 16.

An arrest affidavit says Sue Ann Cumro was not driving and was not a suspect in the shoplifting report, but confronted a deputy when he removed a cigar containing marijuana from a  vehicle in the parking lot.

The affidavit said Cumro removed the marijuana cigar from the hood of a car and ate it. When she was taken to the ground, the affidavit says, she kicked, punched, headbutted and bit the deputy.

On the way to the jail she attempted to kick out the patrol vehicle window and at a jail cell she broke and television and jail phone, the affidavit says.

The affidavit also said Cumro ripped her own clothing to expose her body after the deputy deployed a taser.

Arraignment is set Feb. 11.

In a separate case, Nemaha County Attorney Louie Ligouri has filed a felony assault charge against Kathryn Nolan, 29.

A complaint filed Feb. 4 says Nolan caused bodily injury to an Otoe County sheriff’s deputy.
