NEBRASKA CITY – The Omaha Conservancy of Music is providing music workshops for Nebraska City students today and will give a public concert at 7 p.m. Friday at Lourdes Central Catholic.

Dr. Paul Madison of the Nebraska City Community Foundation Fund said the concert shows how visual artwork can inspire audio artwork in the form of a new composition.

Madison: “This musician was inspired by eight pieces, or six piece of art in Joslyn Art Gallery in Omaha and wrote six movements of music corresponding to each piece of artwork.”

He said the visual art will be projected in the concert hall and the music will invite an audience encounter.

Madison: “Several of them were moving to me and some of them were thoughtful, but I enjoyed the whole thing. When I saw it,  I thought well this is something I would like to bring to Nebraska City.”

It’s also a sort of debut for his daughter, Anne Madison, who is returning to a Nebraska City stage in her first comedy act.

She and  Cody Jorgensen will perform the “Make ‘Em Laugh” act they created.

Madison: “They wrote it. They dreamt is up and I think people will enjoy it. I saw it at Joslyn Castle in Omaha and I’m going to get to see it again on Friday night.”

The act is bursting with funny 1920s tunes.
