Competency Evaluation Ordered For Perry
Public defender tells judge he is not comfortable with Perry entering a plea
NEBRASKA CITY – An Otoe County judge has ordered a competency evaluation for a Nebraska City man accused of offering money to a 10-year-old for sexual contact.
Robert Perry, 63, was scheduled to enter a plea in district court Monday, but Public Defender Michael Ziskey asked for the competency evaluation.
He said he has spoken with Perry several times about entering a plea and does not feel comfortable with Perry’s competency.
At an earlier court hearing, Perry said he plans to return to work when he gets out of custody. He is being held on a $2,000 bond provision.
