Patrol Vehicle Hit At Icy Highway 2 Slide Off
Patrol vehicle hit while directing traffic where truck and semi-trailer had slid off of Highway 2
NEBRASKA CITY – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports multiple slide offs due to icy conditions that developed Thursday evening into Friday, including an accident involving the county's brand new cruiser.
A sheriff’s deputy was assisting a truck and semi-trailer driver that had slid off of Highway 2 near Unadilla. Another deputy parked in the left lane with emergency lights on and was out of the car directing traffic to slow down and merge into the right lane.
Sheriff Colin Caudill says a CR England truck and semi-trailer, driven by 53-year-old Michael Roskelley of Neosho, Mo., hit the back of the patrol vehicle. No one was injured.
The sheriff’s new Dodge Durango has just over 14,000 miles on it.
