SYRACUSE – A man on his way to work this morning found himself escaping his overturned truck in a Highway 50 creek bed.

The driver was headed to Syracuse on the morning work commute when the Dodge Ram pickup slid on a patch of ice. There was air bag deployment and slight crushing of the cab as the truck slammed into running water in the creek bed.

The driver was able to get out of the truck and refused transport to the hospital after he was checked out by the Syracuse Rescue Squad.

The Otoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
