Snow Storm Arrives At NC As School Lets Out
Freezing rain at Falls City raises concerns over possible power outages

NEBRASKA CITY – Snowfall began in Nebraska City today about an hour before the scheduled school closing at 1 p.m., giving Northside Elementary students a chance to chase a few snowflakes before heading to their bus.
Police report traffic backed up on Fourth Corso from the middle school west to 11th Street and south about another block to Landis Engine.
Traffic at the high school was moving, with the help of some human resources.
The Nebraska City Airport reported snow at 11:55 p.m. with temperatures in the 27 degree range and wind gusts up to 29 mph.
Brenner Field at Falls City was reporting freezing rain and fog around 1 p.m. with wind gusts up to 30 mph.
Falls City residents are keeping an eye on the ice build up, that forecasters say could cause some power outages. OPPD and NPPD report no outages early in the afternoon, but two-thirds of Falls City was in a "black out" Thursday due to planned construction at the power plant.
By 1:45 p.m., the Nebraska State Patrol was reporting that Highway 136 at Nemaha County was 100 percent snow covered.
Iowa officials responded to traffic problems on Interstate 29 near Hamburg.
Meanwhile, Lincoln remains only in a winter weather advisory and Transportation Department cameras are showing clear roadways on Interstate 80 by 2 p.m.
The Nebraska Department of Roads reports that Highway 66 at Plattsmouth is snow covered at 2:38 p.m. The Plattsmouth Airport reported light snow at 1:30 p.m.
