Probation Ordered On Multiple Meth Cases
Judge gives Calderon-Paris chance for in-patient treatment

NEBRASKA CITY – Rafael Calderon-Paris, 34, of Nebraska City was sentenced to two years probation for possession of methamphetamine on Feb. 17 and attempted possession of meth.
Deputy Otoe County Attorney John Palmtag said a third meth offense was dropped in a plea agreement.
Public Defender Michael Ziskey said a substance abuse evaluation recommends in-patient treatment.
Ziskey: “It would be a benefit to him and society to utilize probation in both of these cases.”
Judge Julie Smith noted that Calderon-Paris had no serious criminal record until the methamphetamine arrests over a three month span. She noted that Calderon-Paris had expressed remorse regarding the use of meth.
A Jan. 27 court hearing is scheduled on separate charges of child abuse and strangulation on Aug. 24.
