Christmas Lighting Proposed For Courthouse

JOHNSON – Johnson County commissioners approved a new look for Tecumseh's downtown square this Christmas.
Rather than the “avenue of trees” near downtown parking areas, four Christmas trees will be erected around the courthouse entrances.
Sherry Stephens of the Farm Service Agency told commissioners the Christmas Committee would like to follow through on a courthouse lighting project that was originally proposed in 1994.
Commissioner Scotty Gottula said he is in favor of lights on the courthouse, if they can be installed without damaging brick and mortar.
Until funds are available, the committee will furnish lighted candles for courthouse windows and some door wreaths.
The Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a visit with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 1, at the community building. The museum will be open on Sunday and the community building open from 2 to 5 p.m.
The Tecumseh First United Methodist Church is hosting a Thanksgiving Day community dinner at noon.
