Former Tecumseh Guard Sentenced For False Imprisonment Of Female Co-Worker
TECUMSEH – A former prison guard who was accused of sexually assaulting a female co-worker has been sentenced to five years probation.
Luke Anderson, 32, was ordered to two years probation for sexual assault of a woman he had worked with at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. He was also sentenced to five years probation for false imprisonment.
He was arrested at the prison after a 23-year-old co-worker told Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies she had invited Anderson over to watch a movie, but did not consent to sexual contact. She told investigators that Anderson returned the following day, uninvited, and held her against her will.
The defense argued that Anderson was arrested based upon a single complaint and without law enforcement's attempt to verify the reliability of the witness. Judge Rick Schreiner ruled that the arrest was valid based on the woman's job status as a state employee and her detailed complaint.
In a plea agreement, a charge of first degree sexual assault was reduced to a misdemeanor.
