Inattentive Driving Blamed For Syracuse Crash

SYRACUSE – Otoe County sheriff’s deputies blame “inattentive” driving for a Tuesday afternoon accident in Syracuse that sent one person to the hospital.
A northbound vehicle slowed on Highway 50 to turn into the Syracuse High School parking lot with a GMC pickup behind.
Investigators say, when the GMC driver realized the car in front had changed speeds, the driver swerved to avoid a rear-end collision. Rather than swerving onto the shoulder, the GMC swerved into oncoming traffic.
A southbound Chevrolet Trailblazer hit the passenger side of the GMC. Syracuse Rescue took the occupant in the trailblazer to the hospital for medical attention.
Update: A 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Dean Lamb, 72, of Syracuse and a 2010 GMC pickup driven by Angela Beckman, 56, of Avoca collided on Oct. 15. Syracuse Rescue transported Lamb to the hospital with minor injuries. A third vehicle was attempting to turn into the high school parking lot, but was not involved in the collision.
