LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Transportation invited bids Friday for a 2020 construction start date on the Lincoln South Beltway.

Final design for the freeway was completed in December and the transportation department is planning for completion date in 2024.

The beltway will link Highways 2 and 77 with an east-west, four-lane route to Interstate 80.

Bids will be received until 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 at which time they will be opened and read publicly.
