Nebraska City Museums Offer Infantry Music, Heights of History For AppleJack Festival
First Nebraska Infantry band portrayed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at GAR Hall, followed by Lincoln's Balloon Spies
NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City museums are offering music, living history and a firehouse grill for the AppleJack Festival.
The GAR Civil War Museum will host the 1st Nebraska Volunteers Brass Band from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The 15-member group portrays the band of the original 1st Nebraska Infantry.
Guest speaker Terry Lowe will discuss “Lincoln’s Balloon Spies” at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Wildwood Historic Center will feature Victorian impersonators and the Ware family.
The Missouri River Basin Lewis and Clark visitor center will feature living history demonstrations.
The Nebraska City Museum of Firefighting will host the firehouse grill from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The museum will benefit from the water barrel fights, staged from 4 to 6 p.m., following Saturday’s parade.
The Kregel Windmill Factory Museum will kick off its fall speaker series with Paul Siebert at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Siebert will present on folk songs and stories of young Nebraska.
