NEBRASKA CITY –  The Nebraska City commission has scheduled a public hearing Monday for its proposed city budget.

A budget summary published by the city proposes a $47 million budget  with a 6 percent increase in the property tax requirement. The property tax asking increases from $1.7 million to $1.8 million. The tax rate will rise from 47 cents to 49 cents despite a valuation increase by 1 percent.

 The Nebraska City City Commission is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Sept. 16 at city hall.

The agenda includes a $400,000 economic development loan to Gregory Welding to purchase equipment.

Also on the agenda is Mayhew Cabin’s claim for damages due to stormwater and flooding.

The United States Women of Today are asking Mayor Bryan Bequette to declare Sept. 22-28 as Women of Today Week.

The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. on Sept. 16.
