FALLS CITY – The Falls City School District reported a 1 percent budget increase and 2.8 percent decrease in property taxes during a public hearing held Sept. 10.

The school’s property tax asking was reduced $271,047 to total $9,371,000.

The school’s property valuation decreased by over $24 million, resulting in a 3 percent decline.

The school reports increased enrollment with 846 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

A school press release also announces a donation of $20,000 to assist in construction of a new press box at Jug Brown Stadium.  The family of Dr. Larry Stednitz made the pledge for the 1959 graduate of Falls City High School.

F&M Bank presented a “Spirit That Pays” donation earned by Tiger debit card holders.

The Spirit That Pays program was launched two years ago. This fall’s  donation of $1,962 is the biggest to date and brings the total earned to $5,618.
