Suspect In Dollar General, Pickup Theft Arrested

FALLS CITY – The Richardson County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 39-year-old Joseph Sweigart of Topeka on burglary and theft charges.

An arrest affidavit says Falls City police responded to Dollar General on July 14 on a report of a man walking out with a basket of merchandise and two men leaving together in a Nissan Rogue. The Nissan had been reported stolen in Topeka.

Police developed leads on the suspects after posting their photos on Facebook and then Dale Yousel of rural Richardson County reported that credit cards and his Dodge pickup had been stolen.

Investigators later learned that one of the credit cards had been used in at a Walmart in Holton, Kan.

Additional Facebook posts identified the men, including Sweigart.
