Water Emergency Remains In Effect In Plattsmouth, City Urges Conservation
City reports surge in water usage
PLATTSMOUTH – Plattsmouth officials are reminding water customers that the water emergency declared March 20 remains in effect.
Progress has been made on repairs to the water treatment plant, but the plant is still not operational.
The city reported Tuesday that water usage has jumped and is exceeding supply by a significant amount.
The surge in usage has dramatically decreased the amount of water in above-ground storage over the last several days.
City Administrator Erv Portis said, if such usage continues, water pressure will decrease and there may not be enough water for firefighting.
As part of the water emergency, the following water uses are prohibited.
- Irrigation of lawns and other landscaping
- Washing of driveways
- Operating and filling swimming pools
- Washing of vehicles
- Operating commercial car washes
- Restaurants shall serve water only on request and only single servings
