NEBRASKA CITY – A bicyclist was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after crashing into a business sign along Nebraska City’s commercial district.

Witnesses told police the man was rolling down from the crest of 11th Street when he jumped the curb at Quick Pik. The man slammed into the sign about 15 feet away from the curb, knocking him unconscious.

The middle-aged Nebraska City man may have also broken a bone. The bicycle appeared to be undamaged.

Nebraska City city ordinances require bicycle registration, brakes and lights, but do not require a helmet.
