Cyclist Taken To Hospital After Crash Into Business Sign Along 11th Street

NEBRASKA CITY – A bicyclist was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after crashing into a business sign along Nebraska City’s commercial district.

Witnesses told police the man was rolling down from the crest of 11^th Street when he jumped the curb at Quick Pik. The man slammed into the sign about 15 feet away from the curb, knocking him unconscious.

The middle-aged Nebraska City man may have also broken a bone. The bicycle appeared to be undamaged.

Nebraska City city ordinances require bicycle registration, brakes and lights, but do not require a helmet.
