Girl Behind School Lockdown Released From Probation Despite New Charges

NEBRASKA CITY- A juvenile who made threats that put Nebraska City Public Schools into lock down in April of 2018 has been satisfactorily released from probation, despite additional allegations of terroristic threats.
The 16-year-old girl was detained after police surrounded the high school, locked down students and made a search of the people and building. A cell phone was found that led investigators to the teen.
A phone call to a 911 dispatcher threatened a teacher at the middle school, but police switched focus to the high school because a 911 dispatcher heard the high school intercom over the caller’s cell phone.
Officials later said the girl did not have a weapon on the campus and was not in position to carry out her threats.
She was placed on a year’s probation, 50 hours community service and a curfew.
Court records say a motion to revoke the probation was filed in June. That motion said the teen was cited for terroristic threats in May of this year. A juvenile petition regarding the allegations this spring are still pending in court.
