SYRACUSE – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a stolen vehicle was burned in a Highway 50 ditch.

Syracuse firefighters were dispatched at 3:23 a.m. on Wednesday  about a half mile north of Syracuse.

Sheriff deputies had arrived  to find a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado fully engulfed in flames.

The plates on the pickup came back to a Syracuse resident who told deputies the truck was supposed to be parked at his house.

The sheriff’s office reports that the pickup left Highway 50 and got stuck in the ditch. It caught fire while the driver attempted to get unstuck.
