OMAHA - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 9 p.m. today for southwest Iowa and southeast Nebraska.

The watch includes 24 Nebraska counties including Cass, Otoe, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson.

Tabor, Sidney and Hamburg are included in Iowa.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has most of River Country in a level 2 risk for tornadoes with extreme southeast Nebraska in a level three risk. The greatest risk is in Oklahoma.

A risk of large hail is associated with the storm system that involves upper winds over the southern Rockies and  high dew points east. Supercell development is expected by mid to late afternoon.

Brenner Field at Falls City reports  a dew point of 66 at 2 p.m. Dew points as high as 70 are forecast.
