BRIDGEPORT — A fire north of Bridgeport destroyed a home Wednesday morning, prompting a multi-agency response and community support for the family affected.

According to the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 8:30 a.m. and remained on site until approximately 2 p.m. The structure was declared a total loss. All individuals made it out safely, but two pets were lost in the fire.

Agencies responding to the blaze included the Bridgeport, Bayard and Broadwater Volunteer Fire Departments, along with Region 21 Emergency Management.

In the aftermath of the fire, community members have begun organizing support for the family. Immediate needs include: Men’s jeans (sizes 34x34 or 34x36), men’s large and XL shirts, XL long-sleeve shirts, XL sweatpants, men’s size 13 wide shoes, women’s size large clothing and dog food

Officials have not yet released the cause of the fire.
